Defever 44 Offshore Cruiser waiting at the dock  This highly sought and rare Fresh Water only Defever 44 Offshore Cruiser is in incredible condition and meticulously maintained.  The extremely well laid out interior is luxurious, bright and spacious withDefever 44 elegant salon - click for larger view the beautifully handcrafted woodwork that Defever is famous for. You will appreciate the true quality of this vessel.  She is very well equipped with Naiad stabilizers, dual station and up-to-date electronics.  The interior is perfect.  A must see.  This is one of those boats that when you walk into the salon, you immediately feel "like you are home".

The forward guest stateroom features a generous vee berth with a huge filler cushion, a private head with Vacu-flush head and a shower with sump.  The custom fitted cushion covers and matching shams are a rich textured dark green with a subtle pattern woven in.   This stateroom has its own A/C with private digital controls for maximum comfort.    The berth has 2 drawers and 2 cabinets under the berth for easily accessible storage and more storage further forward under the berth for long term storage.  There are 4 ports, a large overhead hatch, overhead lights and reading lights for a bright, very useable space.  In the aft section of this stateroom is a huge hanging locker with louvered double doors, access to the ensuite head and plenty of room for your guests total comfort.  This area also provides access to the engine room door and access to the back of the main electrical panel.

The salon is next ... and it is beautiful.  There are port and starboard and aft entry doors, so docking is a breeze.  The lower helm is forward and to starboard with a full complement of professionally mounted electronics and an adjustable Captain's chair for complete comfort on long passages. The windshield area has privacy screens and both of the side access doors have custom canvas "screen doors" for maximum ventilation on those days that you don't need air conditioning.  The port forward area is Spacious master stateroom - click here for larger imageset-up with the main electrical control panel and a navigation area with a full size chart drawer.

The large L-shaped settee wraps around the port and aft sides of the salon.  The cream leatherette fabric gives an elegant and easy to maintain highlight to the rich woodwork and parquet floor.  There is a mahogany Hi-Lo table with fold out leaves that enable one to change from a coffee table to dining in a heartbeat.  The space under the settees and under the steps, gives even more storage for your convenience.. There are built-in wine glass holders, a matching brass marine clock and barometer combination, a lighthouse nightlight ....... all of which add to the ambiance.   The salon and galley have their own reverse cycle 16,000 BTU air and heat with digital controls.

Across to starboard, we have a 21" TV with VCR on a side cabinet.  Then working aft along the starboard side, we find the side by side Norcold refrigerator and freezer located under a large very useable countertop .  This location gives great access for entertaining (either inside or on the deck) without interfering with the cook, and great access to the galley workers at the time.

The U-shaped galley is up and  located in the port aft side of the salon.  It is large, spacious and bright with tons of easily to organize storage. There are 8 cabinets, 4 large storage drawers, a Sharp microwave, a built-in Princess 3 burner propane stove with oven and a double S.S. sink  The galley has two large opening windows with screens and mini-blinds which add greatly to the comfort of the cook, at the same time allowing food and beverage to be easily passed up to the deck.  The galley is also open to the salon, so that the chef can fully interact with the rest of the crew and be part of the party.

The master stateroom features a centerline island queen size bed, a great ensuite head with Vacu-flush head and an enclosed shower stall, and a utility/storage room that is plumbed for the installation of a washer and dryer.   Both the port and starboard sides of the cabin are lined with beautiful built-in teak hanging lockers with louvered doors and dressers with lots of drawers. Each side of the bed has a nightstand (with more drawers) with ample space for your reading lamps, alarm clocks, etc.   There are 6 ports (3 on each side of the cabin) and 2 large opening hatches in the transom for a wonderful amount of natural light and ventilation.  This is a wonderful space and so very functional .....

Electronics
The lower helm has a Raytheon Pathfinder RL70 24 mile radar and GPS chartplotter, Garmin 230 GPS Chartplotter (new in 2001), Lower helm - click here for larger imageRay Autopilot 650, Raytheon Tridata (depth, speed and trip), Raytheon 220 VHF hailer, an intercom, Ritchie helm compass, Morse engine controls, Maxwell windlass master circuit breaker, and the Naiad Stabilizer controls., 3 windshield wipers with controls, hydraulic steering and a full complement of engine gauges.  There is a beautiful reinforced traditional steering wheel and a comfortable captains chair..

The upper helm has a Raytheon radar and chartplotter, Azimuth 1000 Digital compass, hydraulic steering, full engine controls and gauges, Raytheon 52 VHF radio, Raytheon digital depth sounder, intercom phone, Raytheon ST6000 autohelm repeater with walk-around remote control.

Deck and Hull
The upper bridge deck has a full bimini, an adjustable Todd helm seat,  seating for 10-15 of your closest friends, cushions for all of the seating, storage under the helm itself and more storage under all of the seats.  There is a fiberglass radar arch with lights as the base for the bimini, which extends from the helm completely back to the aft deck entrance.  She has a large, easy access propane tank with safety switch.  She carries a Zodiac YL340 RIB inflatable on the aft deck roof, that is easily  launched or stored with a  S.S. crane outfitted with a Superwinch S2500 with remote control.  The dinghy is equipped with a Yamaha 25hp 4-cycle outboard for those commutes in from the anchorage.

The aft deck has a hardtop and features a beautiful large round dark green "Wicker" table with 4 matching chairs with cushions, and 4 plastic chairs for additional guests. (This "Wicker" is from Lloyd Flanders and is really made from aluminum wire coated with vinyl for a beautiful, no maintenance and very strong entertaining center that will last forever.)  The current owners just purchased in 2002 a full set of custom roll up sunscreens to Defever 44 upper bridge - click for larger imageenclose the deck and give privacy and protection. There is a transom shower, a wet bar with sink and a U-Line icemaker, a swim platform, swim ladder, 110V outlet, boarding ladder, 12V lighting, and a beautiful freshly varnished teak handrail and caprail.

The walk arounds on this vessel are wide and comfortable. There are boarding gates on both port and starboard.

The foredeck has a deep wide gunwale and good nonskid for security in all conditions.  The hawse holes are strong and secure with built in cleats for your lines.  There is Maxwell 2200 windlass with gypsy and capstan.  This is a power up and power down design for maximum control. The foot switches have protective covers for safety.  The boat carries a CQR 45# anchor with chain and rode..

Electrical
5 battery system with huge 8D batteries in fiberglass boxes (with lids),  in 3 separate banks with parallel switch, automatic bilge pump.   50' shore power cable.  12 volt DC and 110 volt AC ship systems with a Jazz inverter with 2500/4500 watt rating,  Phase 3 stage smart charger PT-40CE and single 220V 50amp electrical service.   There are a myriad of 110V and 12V lights throughout the vessel.

Engine and Mechanical
This is the engine room of your dreams.  5 1/2 feet of head room and teak slat floors over the bilges for the perfect combination of traction and visibility. This boat is equipped with a sea chest for safety and convenience.  All of the fuel lines and manifold systems are laid out on the forward bulkhead, so you can see at a glance (even though the port in the engine room door) what tanks you are using.  A built-in work table (with a drawer) provides the perfect spot to work on your maintenance projects.  There are also built-in shelves for your storage and an intercom to the helm.  With the layout and mounting of the equipment, access to all of the machinery is easy.

Twin FWC Perkins inboard diesels with with only 650 fresh water hours. Westerbeke 8kw generator, 3 reverse cycle air/heat units with separate digital controls in each cabin, 3 separate S.S. fuel tanks with sight gauges for a total of approx. 950 gal fuel capacity, fuel filters, Racor fuel/water separators,  3 manual/automatic bilge pumps with high water alarm, sump pump system for the showers, blowers, 12V and 110V lighting, Aft deck on Defever 44  She has raw water sea strainers for the main engines, generator and the air conditioning system, dual stations with full controls.. She carries about 375 gallons of water in 2 separate S.S. tanks.
