Gozzard 44 reaching out on a voyage   If you have never been on board and admired a Gozzard, you don't know what you are missing.  An amazing combination of creative engineering, traditional craftsmanship and beauty and a new way of fitting out.  His interiors are more versatile than any other with folding bulkheads that give you a choice between total privacy and the most open and airy interiors you can imagine. Gozzard 44 convertible saloonAnd you can change back and forth in less than a minute. Custom crafted recesses where the door handles fit into the bulkheads .... allowing the doors to fold totally flush against the bulkhead and become almost invisible.  The closer you look, the more you are impressed and intrigued.  This boat is very lightly used and carefully maintained.  She has only ever been in the fresh waters of the Great Lakes and has only had one loving owner.

This fine yacht is equipped for short handed sailing and family comfort.  She is the only Gozzard 44 ever built with the ability to have 3 private staterooms.  She has reverse cycle heat and air, an in-mast roller furling main, furling on both the staysail and the topsail, a self tacking staysail and a bow thruster.

Designed with a modified extended fin keel with a cutaway forefoot and skeg protected rudder, she gives the comfortable sailing qualities you want in a cruiser with moderate draft, better maneuverability and acceleration and a decent ability to point.  The rudder is approximately 1 foot shorter than the keel and encloses the prop for additional protection.  This gives good offshore performance while still allowing you to explore the small shallow bays and hidden treasures ..

Accommodations
The interior is beautiful and unique and oh so usable. She is finished in beautiful satin varnished North American Cherry Spacious galleyand the cabin sole if solid teak with basswood inserts (not a thin veneer).  The hanging lockers are cedar lined and the doors for all of the storage cabinets are louvered for ventilation.  Storage lockers, bins and drawers are numerous and located throughout the vessel. The companionway and all of the hatches and port have built-in screens.  There are also 4 large dorade vents and 16 opening ports.

The forward cabin design is a convertible main saloon.  The settees which line each side hinge together easily to form a queen size island berth.  They can also be used in place as two wide singles.  The backs of the settees also hinge upward to form two excellent bunks with lee clothes.  These make excellent sea berths. So you can use the converted saloon to sleep a couple, two singles or four singles ..... or a couple and two singles.   All in total comfort.

The inlaid coffee table in the center of the saloon also folds open to act as a rigid base for the dining table.  There is a large cherry dining table that securely attaches to the raised leaves of the table to form a generous dining table for entertaining.  The whole room is lined with storage, behind and below and above all of the settees are wonderful ventilated easily accessible storage compartments.  There is also a huge hanging locker to port, and the coffee table itself opens for storage.  And there is more storage in the bow areas behind the cushions.  At the aft end of the saloon are two cushioned upholstered swivel chairs.  They are great seating for either entertaining or dining, and the starboard chair doubles as a navigators seat at the nav station.Master stateroom head looking forwart thru shower to the guest head

Another exclusive Gozzard feature is the design of the bulkhead itself.   The upper portion of the starboard bulkhead folds down into itself and the double hinged door on the port side opens flush to the wall.  This give you a totally open, light and airy interior with no obstructions from the companionway to the bow.

On the aft side of the forward bulkhead is a unique two seat built-in dinette/breakfast nook.

The galley itself has a center island with deep double S.S. sinks and Avian (synthetic marble) countertops.  She has hot and cold pressure water, manual fresh water and a Seagull IV filtered water system for drinking water. The two section 10 cubic foot refrigerator/freezer in very heavily insulated.  The top, front loading section is a freezer and the bottom top loading section is the refrigerator.  Both sections have freezer seal lids to ensure low cold loss and give minimum battery draw. The compressor has a fan powered by solar/ 12 volt to give maximum efficiency at all times.  There is a built-in 800 watt Panasonic microwave which can be operated underway with the inverter.  The stove is a 3-burner propane gimballed Force 10 with oven.  This is a great stove with an external temperature guage for the oven and an oven door which opens and slides out of the way under to stove to keep the stove balanced while cooking underway.  The countertops throughout the galley are Avian and all have fiddles to keep your food and utensils on the counter.

There is plenty of storage for all of your utensils and food items, including a swing out cabinet with angled shelves designed to store (and make accessible) your dishes in any weather or seaway.Gozzard 44 master stateroom

Along the port side of the vessel are the heads and the shower.  The forward guest head, the shower and the master stateroom head are all in a row with each head having private access to the shower.  The shower itself is large, light and airy and has a teak seat for showering underway and a sump with teak grate. A solar powered vent fan also keeps the shower area fresh and airy all the time.  The aft head has private access to the master stateroom.  Both heads are roomy and comfortable and have great ventilation.  Behind the shower is a very large hanging wet locker and a space that is wired and plumbed for possible future installation of a generator.

Another custom portion of the design in this Gozzard is the placement of two private staterooms on each side of the companionway.  The master stateroom is to port and features a huge berth (larger than 80" by 80"), plus lots of storage with drawers and bins.  A large skylight built in under the cockpit helm pod gives great light (and total privacy) to this berth. Under the berth is access to the aft section of the engine compartment, including the engine starting battery, stuffing box and shaft.

The second private stateroom features a queen size berth and is in the starboard aft section of the hull.  A very comfortable room with reading lights, 110V outlets, plenty of storage and room for dressing in private.

Under the hinged companionway stair is the access to the engine itself, the fuel manifold and the Racor fuel filters.  All very easy to reach and well lit.

Four teak dorades boxes with S/S cowls and built-in numerous solar fans provide constant interior ventilation.Gozzard 44 guest aft stateroom

The underside of the coachouse has FRP panels installed with cherry battens, allowing for easy cleaning and maintenance.   Separate cover plates cover all deck mounted hardware, backing plates and bolts, for easy access in case of changes, additions or leaks in future years of maintenance.

Construction Details
All Fiberglass laminates are produced using E-Glass cloths and marine grade isothalic resins. The gelcoats are NPG/ISO Looking forward in galley with bench seatformulations backed with  AME 5000S vinylester resin. The hull is fully cored from the turn of the bilge to the cove stripe using ATC A500/A550 Core Cell. The deck is also  fully cored with Baltec end grain balsa. In areas where hardware is installed, the core is eliminated for a solid laminate.

All deck hardware is mounted with stainless steel backing plates and bedded in a moisture cure polyurethane caulking. Higher load areas are additionally re-inforced with extra laminates for superior safety margins. All structural bulkheads are glassed to both the hull and deck. All interior bulkheads that can be exposed to exterior or to bilge areas are a cored glass construction totally eliminating the possibility of rot. The hull deck joint is bedded in 3M 5200 polyurethane adhesive and bolted every 6" with 5/16" S/S bolts. The bottom is coated with Inter-Protect 2000 Barrier Coat to further increase osmosis protection. The hull is Flag Blue gelcoat.
